About the ICAA UK Members Group...
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia UK Members Group was founded in 1993 to act as a professional and social focal point for members working in, and visiting, the United Kingdom.
Currently over 3000 members of the Institute have registered addresses in the United Kingdom, with a majority concentrated in and around London.
The Group is formally represented by a voluntary Committee comprising a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and a number of additional members - currently five. The chairman's term of office follows that of the Institute's President. Membership of the Committee is not limited in terms of numbers, and members who would like to volunteer for the Committee are always welcome, and should either contact the Chairman or the Secretary. For details of the current Committee please click here.
The objectives of the Group include:
- Providing appropriate technical update sessions, covering areas such as Australian and UK Accounting and Auditing Standards, the Corporations Law and Taxation.
- Providing opportunities for Australian Institute members to meet socially on a regular basis and assist members newly arrived in the Country to meet their colleagues.
- Providing a link to the Institute for UK-based members.
- Establishing discussion groups and other forums on topics of relevance to Australian CAs.
All Australian Chartered Accountants in the United Kingdom are automatically members of the Group. However, members of other accounting bodies and of the public are welcome to attend our events for the fee specified.
The activities of the Group are supervised by the Group Committee who are responsible for:
- Organisation of technical and economic updates, discussion groups and other functions for members.
- Liaison with the Institute officers and committees in Australia.
- Liaison with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
- General administration of the affairs of the Group including the maintenance of a register of local members.
